Season 1 (2015): meet the Johnstons

The first season introduces the family in the middle of a fixer-upper renovation. Anna and Elizabeth get ready for their first formal dance in the premiere, "Birds and Bees Make Babies". Trent builds a chicken coop, Jonah tries out for high school soccer, and a ski trip gets complicated when Trent is diagnosed with pneumonia. The season ends with the family racing to finish the kitchen before Easter.

Season 2 (2015): Alex's health scares

Season 2 mixes everyday fun with real worry. Emma turns 10 with a roller-skating party, the family debates adopting goats, and Amber's biological dad visits for the first time in five years. The serious thread is Alex: he stops breathing under sedation during a routine back MRI, which makes the season finale, "Alex's Surgery", his tonsillectomy, especially tense.

Season 3 (2017): brain surgery and a hospital stay

In Season 3, Jonah goes for his driver's license and Anna gets her learner's permit. Alex is diagnosed with central apnea and undergoes brain surgery in "Brain Surgery for Alex". Trent turns 40, Elizabeth enters a local beauty pageant, and Trent and Amber move to finalize Emma's and Anna's adoptions. Amber ends up in the hospital late in the season, and the finale takes the family to Puerto Rico, where Trent and Amber wonder about adding another member to the family.

Season 4 (2017): Liz's leg surgery and a house that falls through

The short, six-episode Season 4 opens with Liz's leg surgery and follows her recovery from wheelchair to bike. Amber works on her real estate career, Alex and Emma get braces, and Trent and Amber surprise everyone with matching tattoos. In the finale, "The M Word", the family is harassed at an amusement park, then learns their dream home has fallen through.

Season 5 (2018): a new house and a family milestone

Season 5 opens with the Johnstons finally moving into a new house after weeks in a hotel, only for a repair to uncover a dangerous problem. Jonah becomes the first Johnston kid to graduate high school in "Jonah's Grad-itude". Emma's 13th birthday celebrates her Chinese heritage, Trent and Amber mark 20 years of marriage, and Trent starts thinking about opening a refurbished furniture shop.

Season 6 (2019): holidays, New York and Amber's 40th

Season 6 starts with a Halloween party and a giant Christmas party for hundreds of little people. The family visits New York and learns the history of sideshows at Coney Island. Family therapy pushes Emma to speak for herself, Liz and Anna go to prom, and the family plans a surprise trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for Amber's 40th birthday.

Season 7 (2020): the RV trip and Anna leaves for college

In Season 7, Trent looks for answers about his health, Jonah deals with being kicked out of college, and a genealogist digs into the family's history. The family drives an RV from San Diego to the annual little people's conference in San Francisco. The season ends with "I'm Not Dying!", as Anna moves into her college dorm.

Season 8 (2020–21): quarantine life and Jonah's ultimatum

Season 8 opens in quarantine with viral video challenges. Alex and Emma practice driving in a go-kart and start in-person high school, Liz's friends grill her boyfriend, and the family builds a backyard pavilion. In "A Thanksgiving Ultimatum", Trent and Amber give Jonah an ultimatum over his attitude and lack of motivation.

Season 9 (2021): the first Johnston leaves the nest

Season 9 is about the older kids growing up. Jonah turns 21 and starts a sports podcast, the family celebrates Lunar New Year, and Trent and Amber prepare Anna, Jonah and Liz to move out. In the finale, "Liz Leaves the Nest", Elizabeth becomes the first Johnston child to move into her own house.

Season 10 (2021–22): Anna moves out and Trent changes jobs

Anna finally moves out in the Season 10 premiere, and she and Liz host competing dinner parties. Trent's father's declining health makes Trent rethink his priorities, Emma and Alex turn 16, and the family vacations in Florida. Trent makes a sudden decision at work, searches for a new job, and starts a new career by the finale.

Season 11 (2022): Joose, the Finnish exchange student

Season 11 welcomes Joose, a Finnish exchange student. The family introduces him to Halloween, high school football, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and takes him to Washington, D.C. In "The Finn-ale", the Johnstons say goodbye to Joose and Elizabeth shares her future plans with Brice.

Season 12 (2022): Jonah moves home and Liz and Brice's next step

In Season 12, Jonah moves back home, Trent's snoring turns into a health concern, and Emma starts an internship. Liz and Brice's plan to move in together keeps hitting obstacles. The season ends at the Little People of America convention in Spokane, where the family reunites with Joose.

Season 13 (2023): a trip to Finland

Season 13 takes Trent, Amber, Alex and Emma to Finland to visit Joose and his family. Alex visits his girlfriend, Allie, in Ohio, Liz moves in with Brice and celebrates her 21st birthday with a hoedown, and Trent starts a health and fitness journey. Halloween brings "Little House of Horrors", and by the finale the family is celebrating Trent's weight loss.

Season 14 (2024): Liz's big news

Season 14 is the longest season so far, with 17 episodes. Anna buys a home, the family goes to the LPA conference in Austin, Texas, and Alex, the youngest Johnston, turns 18. The big story comes in "One More Little Johnston?", when Liz shares an announcement that shocks the family: she and Brice are having a baby. A baby shower, a "dad-chelor" party and nursery prep follow before the finale, "Big Baby, Little World".

Season 15 (2025): baby Leighton and four graduations

Season 15 opens with Liz and Brice's daughter, Leighton, coming home from the hospital, and the kids surprise Trent and Amber for their 25th anniversary. Trent has an MRI and other tests for his health, Amber starts therapy, and the family deals with the loss of a loved one in "A Sudden Loss". Emma and Alex go to their senior prom, and the finale celebrates four Johnston graduations as tension with Anna comes to a head.

Season 16 (2025): the empty seat at the table

Season 16 centers on Anna's distance from the family. In the premiere, "Since You've Been Gone", Anna explains why she has pulled away, and Trent shares a new health diagnosis. Leighton turns one, Liz and Brice move into their own home, and Trent and Amber meet Anna for the first time in months in the finale, "Ring in the New Year?".

Season 17 (2026): Liz and Brice's wedding

Liz and Brice get engaged in the Season 17 premiere and plan a fall wedding in Trent and Amber's backyard on a tight timeline. The family takes Leighton on her first trip, to the LPA conference in San Diego, and argues over the wedding budget. Trent has heart palpitations, and the family suffers a devastating loss shortly before the big day. Rain turns the venue to mud, but the finale, "10 Out of 10 Wedding", gets Liz and Brice to their "I do's."
